Ms. Aquino retired as Deputy Director of the University of the Philippines Institute for Small-Scale Industries (UPISSI) and the Associate Director of the Small Enterprises Research and Development Foundation, Inc. (SERDEF), a non-government organization.

She worked in manufacturing firms in quality control, and head of research and development, and production planning and control.

As development officer she was involved in policymaking, planning, development and implementation of programs and projects for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and institutions for SMEs.

Certified APEC business counselor and C3 trainer by the GTZ SMEPSEP program in the Philippines.

Ms. Aquino was a member of the task force who designed and implemented the first supervised credit program for small industries in 1970 called Industrial Guarantee and Loan Fund (IGLF) which is presently administered by the Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP). IGLF is presently the longest running financing program in the Philippines.

She sits as committee member of Regional Quality Assessment Team and Technical Committee for Business Administration and Entrepreneurship of the Commission on Higher Education; and a consultant mentor of the Department of Science & Technology
